FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Ordering, prices, choosing materials and care: answers to the questions daycares, nurseries and schools ask.

Who can order from Kido?

Kido serves daycares, nurseries, playgroups, after-school care, schools and other institutions in Switzerland. A quote request is made in the name of an institution.

How do I get a quote?

Add the items and quantities you want to “My list”, then enter the name of your institution, your canton and your contact details. You send the request and we reply with a quote for your list.

Can I pay online?

No. There is no payment on the site: Kido works by quote. Payment terms are sent with the quote.

Are prices shown with or without VAT?

Prices on the site are in Swiss francs, VAT included. A switch in the catalogue shows them excluding VAT. They are indicative: the quote prevails.

Is there a minimum order, and what are the delivery times and costs?

The minimum order, delivery and payment terms are sent with your quote. You can give a preferred delivery date in your request.

Can I change my request after sending it?

Yes. You receive a quote for your list; you confirm it, or write to us to adjust it.

Is my list saved if I leave the site?

Yes. Your list is stored on your device, in your browser, with no account and no tracking cookie. It is only sent to us when you submit your request.

What kinds of games and materials does Kido offer?

The catalogue is organised in six universes: Montessori (sensory material, fine motor skills, practical life), nursery (discovery and gross motor skills for babies), maths, puzzles, pretend play (play kitchen, imitation) and games (skill, board and creative games).

How do I choose materials for the age of the group?

The Nursery universe gathers materials for babies. Montessori and Puzzles cover hands-on work from the first inset boards. Pretend play is for children who are beginning to make believe. Maths and Games suit older children and after-school care. For detail on an item, give the age of the group in your request.

How do you clean wooden toys?

As a rule, with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then left to air dry. Wood should not be soaked or put in the dishwasher: it swells and cracks. For disinfection in a group setting, follow your facility’s hygiene plan and check that the product is suitable for wood and its finish.

Which standards apply to toys in Switzerland?

Toys placed on the market in Switzerland come under the Ordinance on Toy Safety, which is aligned with the EU directive. The EN 71 series of standards sets out the requirements, for example for mechanical properties, flammability and the migration of certain elements. For a question about a specific item, write to us.
